CBS and the Future of Entrepreneurship
Markets play a fundamental role in creating an innovation economy, mediating between investors with capital and entrepreneurs with productive ideas. Even the most scientifically advanced startups fall for a false assumption that leads to failure: the same entrepreneur must both invent the technology and lead the company. Scientists rarely make the best startup CEOs, and companies focused on frontier science and financial capital will fail to produce scientifically revolutionary startups if there are no entrepreneurial managers to lead them.
Using economic arguments on the dynamics of an entrepreneurial ecosystem, Professor Jorge Guzman will introduce an initial strategy to accelerate a high coordination equilibrium between entrepreneurs and scientists, developing the missing link in transforming New York City’s innovation economy.
